Bypassing Normal Depth of Field Limitations Using a Tilt/Shift Lens: Landscape Usage (Lembert Dome)

Tilt (swing) is a powerful tool long enjoyed by view camera users. While it does not and cannot help for every situation, those scenarios in which it applies can seemingly violate the normal rules for depth of field.

In Making Sharp Images, I show just how effective the use of a tilt lens can be for a landscape scene. This example has been redone for HD and UltraHD images, much larger crops and more explanation of the approach to this scene.
